Kids love themed desserts. And popsicles. And lemonade. These blue lemonade popsicles are a combination of all of those things and the perfect way to beat the summer heat.

And they won’t take you any time at all to make, especially if you use a Zoku quick pop maker that lets you make popsicles in just minutes rather than waiting for them to freeze for hours!

These are also perfect for celebrating Shark Week, an ocean themed birthday party, or for a treat for an ocean themed school week!

Ingredients

There really isn’t too much to making these popsicles as long as you have popsicle molds!

A pile of gummy sharks, swedish fish, and lemonade

Ingredient Notes

  • Lemonade – you can either make homemade lemonade or buy store-bought. If you do a mix, make sure to mix it thoroughly.
  • Blue food coloring – since you’ll be adding this to a liquid, I recommend getting a liquid, rather than gel, food coloring
  • Gummy sharks – I like gummy sharks in these, especially if you’re doing these for Shark Week, but gummy turtles are also great
  • Swedish Fish – the actual Swedish fish or generic gummy fish

Instructions

Start by putting ONE drop of blue food coloring in your lemonade to give it that nice ocean blue tint, any more and it’ll look darker than you want and you won’t be able to see anything.

Before putting lemonade into the popsicle molds, place your gummy ocean creatures inside the popsicle molds, pushed up against the sides of the molds.

Doing this before you put in the lemonade gives you the best shot of having the creatures show up when the popsicles are frozen.

Once you’ve added your gummies, pour in your lemonade, making sure to hold the popsicle mold at an angle to keep your creatures pressed up against the sides.

Expert Tips

Just put a couple of gummy treats in each popsicle. If you overfill them with gummies, the popsicles may not freeze properly.

Run the bottom of the mold under wam water if the popsicles won’t come out. It’ll help loosen them up a bit so you don’t break the popsicles or sticks.

Recipe FAQs

How long do you need to freeze these?

If you use a quick popsicle maker, it could be as few as 10 minutes. If you’re just putting them in the freezer, freeze them for at least four hours (or until frozen solid) but ideally overnight.

How long do these last?

Since homemade popsicles aren’t wrapped like store-bought ones are, I recommend eating within a few days.
