That hand and eyeball punch was actually the inspiration for the Halloween punch recipe I’m sharing in this post!

Halloween Punch Recipe

Okay now let’s talk about this punch. After making this delicious non-alcoholic Christmas punch , I’ve always wanted to make my own Halloween punch. This zombie punch is everything a Halloween drink recipe should be – eery colored, sweet (but not too sweet), and full of spooktacular goodies.

Ingredient Notes

I picked up all of these ingredients at our local Hy-Vee store and when I say picked up, I mean literally picked up.

princess games for little girls

Hy-Vee has a new awesome pickup option called Hy-Vee Aisles Online where you can order things online then pick them up at a specified time. My time was just a few hours later, and it was so easy! Literally just drove up, opened my trunk, groceries were loaded, and I drove home.

So much easier than regular grocery shopping and everything I needed was available via pickup! Order your ingredients online for pickup here .

  • Lemonade – I used Hy-Vee lemonade but really any regular yellow lemonade will work here. Just make sure it’s yellow or you’ll end up with a totally different not zombie like color.
  • Lemon-lime soda – I used Hy-Vee lemon lime soda but again if that’s not available, Hy-Vee has plenty of other lemon-lime soda options that work as well.
  • Blue raspberry Kool-Aid Mix – make sure this is the actual Kool-Aid mix that comes in the big container, not the tiny little packets. The big containers are already mixed with sugar, unlike the little packets, so it’s important to use the already sugared stuff!
  • Gummy candy – I used Hy-Vee gummy worms and other zombie like gummy candies like gummy eyeballs and brains but anything that makes you think zombies, crawling out of graves, etc. works great!

Instructions

This Halloween punch is super simple to make!

Combine equal parts lemonade and lemon-lime soda in a large punch bowl. Stir to mix well.

Lemonade being poured into a punch bowl

Add in your blue raspberry mix and stir really well until you get a nice light bluish green color.

You want this to be totally mixed before you move onto the next step!

Hand holding a metal measuring spoon above a bowl of punch

Add in scoops of lime sherbet. Don’t stir – just let them sit all along the surface.

Last but not least, you’re going to add in your gummy worms and gummy body parts (if using). I like to do this right before serving and try to balance some of the gummy candy on top of the sherbet scoops, but it’s not a big deal if they fall into the punch.

It’s a fun surprise for kids when they get a sunken eyeball when they’re drinking the punch! It just looks more festive if you have some still on top of the sherbet.

Expert Tips

Scoop the sherbet into muffin tins before the party to save time making it right before the party. That way you can just pour the drink, add the blue raspberry mix, and immediately add the sherbet on top right before serving. No messy scooping or dealing with sherbet last minute.

Don’t make this ahead of time. It takes less than five minutes to make so just make it last-minute right before serving. That way the sherbet doesn’t all completely melt and all the gummy candy doesn’t just sink and disappear.

one minute games for couples

Add two gummy worms to each cup ahead of time rather than a bowl of gummy worms to add their own. They’ll never stick with jus two. Plus, the gummy worm garnish is kind of like the fun added sprinkle rim on this strawberry mocktail!

Don’t double the recipe to start . Stick with the basic recipe then add more when you run out (again, super quick to make). Doubling it can totally throw off the taste with the added sherbet on top.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use a different kind of sherbet? Or how about sorbet?

While you could substitute a different kind of sherbet, you won’t get the same greenish blue zombie color as you will with lime. Stick with lime sherbet if at all possible.

How to make Halloween punch smoke?

If you want to add smoke to this Halloween punch, you can add a small amount of dry ice into the punch. If you do this, you need to make sure an adult is serving the punch and that no one gets dry ice in their actual glass since it can be harmful to eat/drink directly.

Can I make this punch ahead of time?

Because of the addition of sherbet, I do not recommend making this Halloween punch ahead of time. If you want to do some prep beforehand, scoop the sherbet into muffin tins so they can just be added right to the punch when it’s ready rather than scooping them last-minute.
