I love chick flicks, especially the ones that aren’t so much about a girl + guy story but rather a story about a girl, or group of girls. Those are the kind of movies that no matter when they started, no matter what else I’m doing, and no matter how many times I’ve seen them, I sit down and watch again.
To say thank you to some of my girlfriends who have helped me with things this summer, I thought it would be fun to come up with gift basket ideas and free printable gift tags inspired by four of my favorite chick flicks – Clueless, Mean Girls, 13 Going on 30, and Pitch Perfect.
The research (watching all four movies again) for this blog post might’ve been my favorite yet. I hadn’t seen Clueless in a while and forgot just how young Paul Rudd looked back in the day.
As I was watching each of the movies, I tried to pick out common lines from the movies that people would recognize for the tags. Things like, “On Wednesdays we wear pink,” turned into, “On birthdays, we give gifts.” And “Can you tell I’m wearing underwear? ‘Cause I totally am,” turned into “Can you tell I’m saying thank you? ‘Cause I totally am.”

The first thing to go in each of the gift baskets was Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm because it’s actually what inspired the idea in the first place. I was walking around Walmart saw the new designs in the checkout lane and immediately thought, I need to use those in a gift basket somehow.
Really, I thought look at that pink tiger print lip balm, I need to give that to my friend who loves Mean Girls. It just says Mean Girls to me. And from there I decided I needed four stylish lip balms to make gift baskets for my four favorite movies.
